I am still hesitant about jumping into SL or any of the other online VR worlds. I have the problem that when I involved with something, that I have a tendency to get obsessive or even addicted to it. When I first started chatting, I was up all night chatting with people from all over the country. The great thing about the Internet, there is always someone online. When I get new PC games, I play constantly. I am not a casual player, an hour here or there. I am a stay up til 3 a.m. and try to get up at 6 to go to work kind of person. I want to immerse myself in it until its over. Those free online games? I can sit and play the same one for hours once I get started. And then there are the IRL things that I'd rather not mention, LOL.
So I am afraid that if I start getting too involved in SL, that I will be down on the PC every night, all night. Since there is no ending, would I ever come up for air?

L0L-I FEEL YOU. YOU HEARD OF ZWINKY? I USED TO BE ON THERE, BUT IT'S MORE LIKE A YOUNGER KIDS CROWD. I REMEBER SOME LIL GIRL (I COULD TELL BY THE WAY SHE WAS ACTING), CAME UP TO ME SENDING STUPID MESSAGES. CAUSE YOU CAN ACTUALLY CHAT DIRECTLY TO THE CHARACTER YOU SEE. I WAS JUST BORED, WANDERING AROUND AND PLAYING GAMES. WOULD YOU BELIEVE THAT GIRL FOLLOWED ME AROUND SAYING STUPID STUFF FOR NO REASON FOR LIKE 5 MINUTES?
I THOUGHT THAT WAS WEIRD...I LIED TO HER AND TOLD HER I WAS SITE MANAGEMENT. I MADE UP THIS WHOLE LIE ABOUT REPORTS OF ABUSE, AND THAT IF SHE DIDN'T STOP HER PROFILE WOULD BE DELETED. SHE QUIT AFTER THAT.
Yeah I feel you Carol. Video games are a hobby of mine, and I often find myself playing them through until the end. What happens when you have a game that has no end?
I have had a few friends get so into MMO's like WoW that they flail classes or lose jobs. I thank the good Lord everyday that I have enough self-control to keep myself focused.
I understand completely! I am like that with ebay and my Disney site, tourguidemike.com. My family gets highly annoyed with me! And, it's funny, I said to my husband last night that I was hesitant to sign up for 2nd Life for the very same reason. Of course, he gave me the very concerned, yet oh no, not another site, look.
